Med tanke på Milbank drar jag mig till minnes ett citat från Yoder:
The key to the obedience of God’s people is not their effectiveness but their patience. The triumph of the right is assured not by the might that comes to the aid of the right, which is of course the justification of the use of violence and the other kinds of power in every human conflict; the triumph of the right, although it is assured, is sure because of the power of the resurrection and not because of any calculation of causes and effects, nor because of the inherently greater strength of the good guys. The relationship between the obedience of God’s people and the triumph of God’s cause is not a relationship of cause and effect but one of cross and resurrection. (Politics of Jesus)
Håller det? Eller har Milbank rätt?

Enligt min mening så hsr Yoder helt rätt här och uttrycker den pacifism som jag vill "stå" för. Den här texten (och liknande) från Yoder har satt oerhört djupa spår i min teologi. I slutet av min översikt av Milbanks Theology and Social Theory finns antydan till lite av sådan här kritik (är även tillämpbar på citatet som Arne lyfter fram i föregående blogg).
Håller mig också på Yoders sida, även fast vi inte ska göra sånt, eller hur det var Paulus nu sa.
Jag tycker det är just det som Milbank missar när han i stort sett säger att vi måste använda makt för att vara effektiva och nå resultat. Som i artikeln citatet var taget ifrån.
"Charity without power, an ineffective charity, is not really charity at all, but rather an impossible aspiration, because it is ironically doing nothing."
Han har fastnat i det som Yoder kritiserar. Och jag tycker inte han (Milbank) bemöter det på något bra sätt i det jag läst. Har ni några tips där kanske?
På tal om den artikeln så tycker jag denna mening är rätt sorglig.
"For the survival of Christianity was enabled by acts of military defiance and its survival otherwise would have been either marginal or non-existent."
Det lämnar väldigt liten tillit till Gud. Något som Yoder har mycket mer av tycker jag.
